DHUB FAB

16.06.10 – 29.05.11

The DHUB FAB is a digital fabrication laboratory, with CNC machinery, that allows on-site experimentation with prototype and object manufacturing through workshops aimed at both professionals and non-professionals. These workshops focus on specific issues such as; CNC cutting and milling, 3D scanning and printing, and making electronic circuits and customized machines for producing all kinds of objects and inventions.

In this workspace we will also discuss the phenomenon of the expansion and democratization of digital manufacturing tools, that developed due to the appearance of networks created by small manufacturing workshops and the availability of shared files on the Internet. Through open source systems, new participative models have been created as an alternative to big industry - ranging from software programmes that modify and personalize objects and virtual designs, to instructions to construct personal manufacturing machines. Connected via video-conferencing on the network of Fab-Labs international, the DHUB FAB includes projects and web platforms that investigate this new productive condition that is becoming more open and widespread and illustrate a growing community of Do-It-Yourself-er’s implicated in the creation of their own objects and technological solutions.

With DHUB FAB we aim to bring technology closer to all of our visitors and also transmit the idea that, just as 2D printers did in the past, 3D digital manufacturing machines will give rise to important changes in the way that we produce and consume and have direct consequences on the economies of present-day production .

Collaborative Cloud
Collaborative Cloud is an open project that investigates the potential of local production and distributed design. The project offers anyone independent of their location the opportunity to participate in the production and design of physical object.

Using a programme that can be downloaded at www.dhubfab.com or using the computer in the exposition space, participants can configure and design a piece of the cloud. The information generated from anyplace in the world will be used to manufacture at DHUB FAB, the elements that will decide that growth and the shape of the cloud over an 11 month period.

Programmed Workshops

Rhinoceros
DHUB FAB together with McNeel Europe and La Tienda del CAD are offering free workshops about the software program, Rhinoceros.

In the first course we will teach you how to model basic 2D and 3D objects and during the second workshop we will teach how to then develop advanced modeling techniques on surfaces and solids.
Software: Rhinoceros, Illustrator, Autocad
Maximum number of participants is 15.
