The Glamour of Yves Saint Laurent at the Mapfre Foundation
On October 6th, an exhibition about designer Yves Saint Laurent opens at the Mapfre Foundation in Madrid. Created in collaboration with Foundation Pierre Bergè-Yves Saint Laurent, the exhibition runs until January 8th, 2012.
The exhibition takes a look at the career of an artist that began as a designer at Dior and went on to become one of the most important designers of the 20th century with his own haute couture creations. The show ran in 2010 at the Petit Palais de París and is the first retrospective dedicated to him in Spain. This exhibition is made up of over 150 haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces, over 80 sketches, photographs and films by this grand master of fashion. In addition to his cretion, visitors can also view films, songs and other elements that served as inpiration to the designer.
Fashion is also an art form, and more and more museums and galeries are offering exhibitions about designers, such as, the DHUB's exhibition What to Wear? Maria Brillas' Wardrobe by Pedro Rodríguez or the Yves Saint Laurent retrospective.
