Permanent Collection of the MTIB, Touristic Icons of Catalonia
Castellers, Sonar, Montserrat, or La Boqueria - and also the Casa Bloc and the collection at the Museu Tèxtil i de la Indumentària de Barcelona - these are some of the 116 symbols that comprise the Catalogue of Catalan Touristic Icons.
The Generalitat de Catalunya has undertaken this project in order to give recognition to the most significant symbols of Catalan identity, and create a visual tool that identifies the distinctive features of tourism in the country.
The collection has been organized into different categories that range from popular culture to cuisine, from urban landscape to flora and fauna. The collection at the MTIB, has been included in the Fashion section, alongside works by Antònio Miró, Custo Barcelona and Josep Font, and the Casa Bloc, in the Architecture section, alongside the Sagrada Familia and the Monastery Pere de Rodes.
The Catalogue of Touristic Icons of Catalonia will be available starting this November, but if you can’t wait until then - follow the evolution of the restoration of the Casa Bloc with DHUB or visit the Museu Tèxtil i de la Indumentària, at our building in Pedralbes.
