National Design Awards 2011
Yesterday, the Premios Nacionales del Diseño which are given annually by the Minister of Science and Innovation, were published. The awards, which consist of 30,000 Euro prize, have recognized professionals such as Carles Riart and Elio Berhanyer, and the companies Cricursa and Sellex S.A.
Yesterday, the Premios Nacionales del Diseño, which are annually awarded by the Minister of Science and Innovation, were published. The awards, which consist of a 30,000 Euro prize, recognized professionals such as Carles Riart and Elio Berhanyer, and the companies Cricursa and Sellex S.A.
Carles Riart, winner in the category "Professional", and renowned for his designs which include the Vallvidrera chair(1986), was awarded "for being a singular and symbolic character in the panorama of Spanish design; his important, coherent, provocative and risk-taking career, as well as the persistance and validity of many of his designs; for his democratic sens; for his versatility and his holistic character."
In the category of "Company", both Cricursa and Sellex S.A tied for the win. The first for its avantguard character and the second for its "excellent trajectory with over 30 years in which they have never lowered their high standards and achievements."
The Premio Nacional de Diseño in fashion, awarded by the Culture MInister, was given to Elio Berhanyer in honor for his career of over half a century "embelleshing all that is to do with daily life and as a representative of Spanish fashion at the international level."
