The Casa Bloc Apartment Museum

Permanent

Last March 20th, Apartment 1/11 at Casa Bloc was opened to the public.

Catalan architects of the Second Republic, brought together by the Grup d’Arquitectes i Tècnics Catalans per al Progrés de l’Arquitectura Contemporània (GATCPAC), proposed a new way of living that was just, accomodated co-existence and defended the collective identity.

The creation of Casa Bloc was one of the first steps towards dignifying workers's living conditions. As a result of the Civil war, the project was cut short.

Now, after a careful restoration by the Institut Català del Sòl  and Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, through the Disseny Hub Barcelona, the doors to apartment number 1/11 are open and furnished just as its creators had originally wanted. Come discover how the brilliant avant garde minds of the past dreamed living could be.
