A02. DHUB Museums

Disseny Hub Barcelona is currently made up of the following museums.

  • Museu de les Arts Decoratives

    Chair BKF, 1938-1939, Grupo Austral

    This historic museum joins the heritage core of Disseny Hub Barcelona and becomes a crucial part of the new centre. Its collection of product design objects consists of over 1,400 pieces, while the collection of decorative art objects contains some 6,000 pieces, among them furniture, wallpaper, carriages and clocks.

    The museum, which opened its doors at the Palau Reial de Pedralbes in 1932, offers a journey through the history of decorative art objects from medieval times to the most contemporary examples of product design.

  • Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentària

    The Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentària also forms part of the heritage core of Disseny Hub Barcelona with its collection of period and fashion garments.

    The museum’s collections consist of dresses, jewellery and accessories, as well as textiles that include fabrics from Coptic times all the way to the industrial age. There are also collections of lacework, embroidery and religious clothing.

  • Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques

    Poster VII Feria de Barcelona

    The Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques collections now form part of the heritage core of Disseny Hub Barcelona with the aim of reinforcing one of the centre’s four areas of operation: visual communications design.

    Important examples of popular engraving, illustrated books, binding and product packaging make up the Gabinet’s historical collections. In contemporary design, they have an impressive collection of posters.

    Its collections are displayed to the public with temporary exhibitions and the study galleries of Disseny Hub Barcelona.
