Mark Ganter's Ruffle Bowl
"I am a geometer. I have always been interested in the study and creation of forms." states Mark Ganter, professor at the University of Washington and one of the heroes of 3D manufacturing.
The Ruffle Bowl is a piece that the scientist created at Solheim Rapid Prototyping Lab for the exhibition Full Print3d. The laboratory co-directed by Ganter is currently working on the segmentation of objects (including biological), and the development of new materials for 3D printing and 3D printing systems (including ceramics and glass). The Ruffle Bowl itself was created with ceramic and bronze glaze at the edges.
