Preview Spain 2010, a cultural event in Washington DC
Members of the Toormix design studio are staging a new design campaign as part of the Preview Spain cultural cycle in the USA, during which they will be also be holding a conference and workshop.
The Spanish embassy in Washington DC has invited the designers, Ferran Mitjans and Oriol Armengou – founders of Barcelona’s Toormix studio in 2000 – to participate in the Preview Spain event. Now in its third year, Preview Spain is a programme of cultural events sponsored by the not-for-profit independent organisation, Society of Spain, based in Washington DC. This society seeks to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Spain and the United States and their respective cultures by building bridges and striking alliances with other organisations and companies.
Spanish design will feature in various events throughout March. As an upshot of the collaboration between Spain’s Ministry of Culture and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), a series of conferences will be held at which such professionals as Vicente Guallart, Nacho Carbonell and the Toormix studio will be showcasing their work for attendees.
8 March at 6 p.m.
